spider plant question

well i grow many spider plants and i have always wondered whether the fat roots would grow into more plants by placing some in dirt or water? anyone know of producing plants this way?

thanks

Brad

A little late for a reply and not very helpful, but I'm not sure about the roots, but I broke the top off of mine and shoved it in dirt (about 2inches or more below the growing tip) and it rooted quite quickly.) Let me know if you fid out about the actual roots though.

Why don't you just trim off the tons of Kiekis these plants make and plant those? They spit back out keikis like mad after giving them a haircut. I have over 10 of the things in my GH and that all from a single plant. The preduce like mad. Just cut the little plantletts off and plant them after they form roots. There you go!
