sphagnum moss question

What's so important about sphagnum moss? People keep saying that you should put some in the pot with the cp. My VFT is doing just fine with some plain peat moss. If you guys REALLy reccomend putting s. moss, where would I get some? Thanks.

Its used as a potting medium... Its good because its airy, but retains water very well too, which is good for CPs... The acidity is good too... Live Sphagnum is used as a dressing to make it look good, and also, it has the same acidity benefits as the dead stuff... The dead stuff usually has spores in it, so you dont have to hunting to find live stuff, just wait - a while...

Your fine I think there just confused. Lots of people, like me, use peat moss.
