Should plants be rootbound

should my VFT be rootbound in the current pot before transplanting it?

Well, it shouldn't be severely rootbound. Look for roots starting to poke out of the drainage holes in the bottom of the pot. When you see roots poking out, it's time to re-pot.

i agree with ftg , its houdl be severly root bound although root bound flytraps seem to grow bigger traps .

Kinda like violets, eh? Rootbound violets bloom an explosion more!

Okay, whats the best type of soil to put it in?

Well, I grow mine in a 50/50 mixture of peat and perlite. They are very healthy.

Oops, time to repot my green dragon. On second thought I'll wait till it goes dormant. I will then be putting all my vfts in one container.
