That time of year when I really start finding out what is going to survive, and what isn't ('Red Viper' and minor okee on the list of things needing replacement...), and oh so many flowers....my sister has finally noticed that flava and its hybrids tend to have an awkward smell as well, and she's not happy with me.

Things were looking good...and then unfortunately shortly thereafter the weathr flipped on me and one more cold snape passed through. That cold, combined with just the transition into full sun, I think has killed about a third of the flowers I had. Still leaves me with a lot of flowers...but unfortunately, as it always has to be apparently, the buds that bit it were frequently the ones with crosses I was most looking forward to...

There was a bit of trouble in late June...I went on a trip to New Mexico to document wildlife, parents weren't quite sure how much water all of the plants should get, so....
Nothing died, but a lot of nice beautiful pitchers went crispy early. So did most of my attempted crosses when the flowers went first.
A few things escaped the crisping though, or have grown out since:

Also, it's one of the handful of flowers still alive after a hailstorm while I was in Oklahoma stripped everything that I finally put outside into the new bed:

This bed is now nearly full one end to the other with all the extra divisions I still need to get rid of too, and I will likely have to start looking at digging the second (already have a liner, it's just the time it'll take...).

This year has been hectic and I've hardly had time to actually monitor the Sarracenia pool very well (though I have, sadly, lost the 'Adrian Slack' that always had a bit of trouble here), but slowly things are starting to look nice again. Thinking I might have better luck soon if I can get a setup around them that can act as greenhouse in winter, mild shade cover in summer.
