Sarracenia Purpurea early wakeup call?

Ant

Your one and only pest!
Well I was moving my plants around and I placed my Sarracenia Purpurea over the vent without noticing and it is starting to send up a bud. Is this because the time of year or really because of the heating?

Depends how long it's been over the vent. Flowering is triggered by heat + lengthening hours of daylight.

could be either..or both.
doesnt really matter much either way.
the plant is "waking up" and its best to just let it continue.
its getting to the point now where its the very early portion of the "coming out of dormancy" season anyway!
so its really not "too early" at this point..

my plants only have 2 more weeks before they come out of the dark!

Some of my more southern Sarracenia species wanted to flower 2 weeks ago, I promptly moved them to a colder, darker place (storm cellarway) to put them back into sleep. I believe it was just the fact our basement was warmer this year and it triggered a false alarm.

Okay, so should I leave it over the vent then?

I wouldn't. You're just giving it artificial heat, too early.
