Sarracenia alata in Eastern Texas

I went on a psuedo-vacation to East Texas this year, to see carnivorous plants in Texas. I wasn't really amazed with the display as it was overgrown with grass and the soil seemed very dry to the touch. Pics where taken at two trails in The Big Thicket National Preserve, the trails being the Sundew Trail, and the Pitcher Plant Trail. I did not see any Drosera, Utricularia, nor Pinguicula as I had expected too. I only took pictures and did not take any plants with me.
First we stopped by a visitor center where I saw some S. alata growing along the edge of the building, decided not to take pictures. I did take pictures of the huge model they had inside the visitor center, though.

After that, we went to our first stop, the Sundew Trail where I did not see any Drosera at all.

That's it, thanks for looking.

Awesome pictures, i wish we had nature like that here :)
Btw, did they build that visitor center in the middle of a Sarr population or were they planted later ?

Neat display.
I can't wait for my Alata to grow up!

Nope, the trails where miles away from the visitor center, I guess they just planted them there for show.

LOL, i get it now....
I thought the 4th picture was a window, but i now see it's a picture.

Cool stuff! Maybe next year make it early summer/late spring to see some flowers with pitchers! :-D
