It really depends on what kind of output you're getting light and heat wise from those bulbs. Rule of thumb is usually around 12,000 lumens full spectrum or white about 6-8 inches away.

Sorry, I meant the pellets My lights are 1600 lumens each and about 2" above.

Oh, you can just put them on the surface, 1 or 2 should do just fine.
