Repotting Cephalotus

Repotted some Cephalotus today because the media was drying much too fast and took some photos.

New and old pot. New pot is 5.5" wide.

Media mixed up

Leca in bottom of the pot

Roots are about 8" long

Tons of roots at the bottom

These big thick roots were everywhere

Potted up without top layer

With top layer (pure LFS)

Also potted up a smaller. This one is "Czech Giant" (thanks again Devon)

Again long roots. They actually stop just below my wrist.

Then some small pullings. Couldnt believe how long these roots are!

excellent work! is your mix just perlite and LFS?

times like these i look over at my teeeeny tiny ceph and shake my head hahah. maybe some day

Thanks Myles, yup just perlite and LFS.

The second plant was all brown with no life above ground a little over a year ago. They grow fast once they're happy.

*gasp* I remember when I had a Czech Giant that looked that awesome. So jealous..

Thanks mass. it didnt look so awesome after it nearly died. This was it about about 14 months ago maybe. I switched to LFS and perlite about a month after the pic cause it came to a halt. Glad I did cause its been working so far.

yeah, see.. LFS is what killed all my big kids. What works for some, doesn't work for others. Really comes down to the environment I think.
