Purple flower

This is just a pic of a flower I bought that attracts butterflies. I'm sure one of you will know what it really is.

Now that I look at it the flowers haven't actually opened yet but the color is really nice.

Texas Bluebonnet (Lupinus texensis).

they can't be lupin, they look more like lavender

They are Lupinsus texensis. The flowers in the picture haven't fully opened yet and within the next few weeks, every hill and pasture in Texas will be covered with them.
