Hi Suzzane, you can still use an old camera, just add on some good macro lenses. I mean, my camera is brand new, but still an old Digi would give you the same results, macro lenses operate on the camera ability to zoom optically to the telephoto position, not on the megapixels present, but more MP gives you more clarity, and a macro function on the camera certainly helps a WHOLE lot when using the lenses.
