Old leaves

Is it a bad thing to cut off old, curly, dried up leaves on a capensis even if they have not turned yellow or black? thanx for the info

Well, as long as there is some green, the leaves are capable of photosynthesis, but D. capensis quickly replaces the removed leaves as it is a rapid grower. I think a little pruning will not hurt it, it fact, very little seems to hurt it :) I would say clip away, but dont remove any more than 1/3 of the leaves before allowing the plant to replace them.

I like the natural look myself. In habitat these plants grow long stems which are thick with old leaves. These protect the stem from harm, and probably help retain moisture in the dry season.
