Recently purchased v.f.t. due to the fly problem here in central california. Do these plant like to be root bound like violets? Or do they like to have plenty of room for the roots.
I understand that they like LOTS of distilled water and need humidity.
actually no
- they dont need humidity ( not special terrarium or contraptions)
WELCOME TO FORUMS
you must have purchased about 100 fly traps to have any significant bug population drop
and no they do not grow huge roots, you wont have trouble with roots thye need fairly moist but not underwater roots
Dyflam was moving this thread to the VFT sub-forum where it would get more hits by VFT growers.
Meena,
Actually yes they do need humidity, between 50-70% is fine though
The can survive root bound conditions but appreciate large pots too. I'm guessing you have it in a little 3" pot now? If so it'll be fine in there for a while and if you want to transplant it later we'll all be here to talk you through that
Until then just take your plant and set it in a tray with about 1/2" of distilled or R/O water in it and refil when ever the tray only has a film of water left. Give it good light don't fry or freeze it and you'll do fine.
