New bog garden

Ok, I just got finished digging my pond, and I need help on the design aspects of my bog.

First, I am going to have an in ground pond in the center, with my bog completly encircling it.

Is it possible to feed my bog with my pond, being that my pond is ground level?

I live in New Orleans, any plant recomendations?

And any suggestions in general about the whole process? I am horrible at design, so I need some major pointers.
