New alternative to peat?

CorneliusSchrute

A leuco by any other name would still be as glutto
I was googling around and found this article for a pine-based peat alternative. This seems hopeful, no?

Here is the link.

Link didnt work for me.

Ah, so that is my academic advisor's research. It is still in the developmental stages, but don't think you can just use pine bark, pine shavings, or pine sawdust as a replacement media. To produce the proper consistency you need a hammer mill, also last i heard they were using a lot of fertilizers and lime to offset the nutritional deficiencies and pH imbalances

Thanks for the info, Mason!

I wondered if it would have additives in it. If development proceeds I also wonder if there might be a variety marketed without such amendments.

Sorry for the busted link. :/
