N. boschiana

Just blowing off some steam........today has saddened me to the maximum...not to mention anger me just to about my limit.....

Despite my daily checks on my large chamber of nepenthes cuttings and protecting them with fungicide....my N. boschiana cutting had been infected with a stem rotting fungus....I just about hit the ceiling when I saw this...I had to reduce the cutting from about 6 inches tall to 3 inches tall stem of nothing...no leaves just 1 point where I might get a dormant bud to sprout...I had to cut boths end off of it and re-cut root slices in the base...what else can happen now?

Was that species named after a German?

I have no idea Tim. I DO know it was orginally N. borneoensis then was changed to N. boschiana. I can't remember why though.

It just seems strange. First N. dubyia is named after.......... Oh, forget it. I see my sense of humor is perverted...........

Dustin, you might consider the use of a rooting gel, such as Olivia's Clone Gel, or Doc's Clone Gel. These products contain rooting hormone and, I believe, discourage rotting by presenting a barrier to pathogenic fungi. You should be able to find them via an internet retailer. Good luck!
