I bought this plant from Lowes and attempted to do a transplant into a bigger pot, is it big enough? The peat moss I bought came in a huge bag, does this stuff go bad? Thanks for any info..
Make sure the peat moss has no fertilizer added. Contents/ingredients should say only Sphagnum peat moss.
It doesn't really go bad unless you get worms or bugs in it. I suppose if you keep it wet it will break down faster. It can be more difficult to break up or wet when it dries out more though.
Pot size for the Sarracenia should do for a year or two. S. purpurea don't grow as rapidly as some of the other Sarracenia and they aren't sensitive to root crowding. This one had huge pitchers in a 3.25 inch pot over at Peter's nursery.
