Beats me. Flytraps outdoors for me grow like gang busters for 3-5 years and then start doing the "Incredible Shrinking Dionaea" bit. It could be salt accumulation that judging from the corrosion of any exposed metals sea spray may be a factor. I change the media annually and flush out the water trays. I suspect the mild summers I've been having the past 8 or so years might have something to do with it.
Could be nefarious insects. Could be results of spraying with systemic insecticides for the persistent mealybugs.
