I used to love music videos!
I was a teenager in the 80's..I was right there with the early days of MTV..
back in the day, (mid-80's) MTV played all the "pop" videos, the top-40,
and VH1 was the "Adult Contemporary" more mature version of MTV..
both played videos 24/7..
then something happened..in the 90's both MTV and VH1 totally changed their format and focus, and today both channels play nothing but really crappy reality shows..they have been worthless for almost 20 years...as far as I can tell, neither station has actually played a music video since about 1989..
So just now im flipping around cable, checking on the big eastern storm, and I see VH1 is playing a show called "Top 40 music videos of 2009"..
question..WHO is plying music videos these days?
VH1 certainty isnt..
has anyone actually seen a music video on TV in the last 20 years?
I quite literally have not seen one music video on TV in 20 years..
and I have cable, and I flip around all the stations all the time..
I find it very strange that VH1 would have a show called "the top 40 music videos of 2009" when they themselves do not play any music videos anymore..
thoughts?
