I have to do this every few weeks. It isn't a big deal, I just worry I will accidently cut off a trap. I am tempted to remove all of the moss to help avoid such a tragedy.
anything that blocks light has an effect... that being said, they don't seem to mind it too bad
I just trim back every so often. I would recommend that over its complete removal.
although its been rare, I have seen them react negatively to that
