Maturity, flowering & climbing

Hi!
My 2 year old ventricosa put out twin male flower spears (!) fr the first time this month, and I'm curious if this means it's mature? Is it going to start climbing/vining... ??

Though cool, vining can be rather hard to contain in a terrarium... I have a couple cuttings and they get brown and woody and hard to deal with... is it possible to cut the top off it when it's done flowering... and keep it fom vining?

thanks...

(PS: I got some pollen off the first spear and am keep it in the freezer... does anyone know how long it will be ok?)

I think a few months on the pollen. Yeah you can chop off the top of the plant and it`ll likely grow more low to the ground and bushy(and that way you`ll have a cutting to root or trade!)
