Large Traps :p

For some reaon, my common VFT is growing huge traps! I'm saying they are growing to about 1.5inches! One of the is even bigger! Is this normal? And finally they are growing Vertical! I'll post some pics sometime next week!

What kind of conditions do you grow your VFT's in? And what is your soil mixture?
