Is this a root?

I noticed a few days ago and was wondering what it was

It's a D. scorpioides if that helps anyone.

If it is a root then what should I do? Can I cut it and pot it to start a new plant?

Dead leaves and a stalk. Just leave it alone.

The plant is still alive but if you look in the center, there is a green thing coming from the live top. I probably should've gotten a better picture...

The weird part is that it gets closer to the ground every day

Looks like a root, yeah. I've gotten a similar thing on my D. capensis before.

This happens with my D. roseana as well

Classic D. scorpioides on year #2. will send down prop roots. No idea if they will work for root cuttings...

Here is another less than great shot. I need a better camera lol.
You can see that it goes from the main plant and is almost to the soil.
So my best bet is to leave it?

w00t! Many pygmy Drosera grow secondary roots like that, especially D. scorpioides. Nothing to worry about.

All the leaves are healthy, just folded onto some gnats
And off to the side is my Marston Dragon which is also covered in gnats lol.

my scorpiodes outside has by wind and rain been knocked over (in calm conditions) only to be back on its feet hours later. if only it would have the good sense to grow a prop root, things might be easier for it.
