Iraqi Greenhouses

Hey everyone
I went on a convoy to Baghdad to pick up some other unit today and I saw something that caught my eye: GREENHOUSES in Iraq.. Never thought I would have seen that! Nothing special in construction just short in height long plastic tubes, lots of humidity etc. But for those of you who don't know Iraq is not a pure sand desert.. there's lots of vegetation and rivers/streams.. And it gets cold here.. its maybe high 60's during the day and low 30's at night this time of year..sucks being a gunner on night missions...:censor: But next time I head up there I will have my camera..

nah, WMC = Weapons of Mass Carnivores! :D

I'd definately like to see pics. It's too bad you're probably considered an enemy or you could stop and ask the guy all about growing there and talk about plants.

Actually the people here (supposedly) like us.. I have seen people wave and all smile etc... The greenhouses are used for rice and other crops. Actually the way it is now no one is allowed to be in cities and we need IP (Iraqi Police) escorts anywhere we go Except Baghdad for some reason... (we have a base complex there) and the like. As for being enemies I think we are on even ground: We don't trust them and they don't trust us. I personally believe (along with most others in my company) and know that the IPs are as crooked as a circle. I highly doubt they even know CPs exist..wrong environment for them to be natural.

True, the fertile crescent isn't their natural habitat (lol) but I remember long ago there was a TF member who was from Israel and had a really amazing Nep collection - so anything is possible. I suppose there isn't much mail being delivered in a war zone...

"My Wistuba order was delayed because the mail truck was blown up... again!" :D

lol Hate to burst you bubble swords but we FLY mail in :D I'd really like to see the Gardens up here but that probably won't happen in my lifetime... and if it did PTSD would probably kick in......

Historically, after Babylon was destroyed by the Media-Persian empire, it became a bog. Only a later shift in the Euphrates river caused desertification. It could have had CPs once upon a time.
