Hybrid question

Is S. Willisi the same as Leuc x Willisii (Dana's Delight) - if not what makes the S. Willisi? Thanks Dan

Hi Dan,

S. 'Dana's Delight' is not the same as Willisii. As you stated, it is Willisii x leucophylla. It is a fine cultivar, not officially registered, but should be. Willisii is a complex hybrid with a heavy purpurea background. Despite the purp., it has strong upright pitchers that are nearly solid red. I don't think the exact parentage of Willisii is known, even though there are some good guesses. Hope this is helpful.
