Hubby Is Very Ill.

:sorry:Sorry i wont be around much..

i am gona try to be in as much as possile over the next few weeks, hubby has gottin very sick, all the stress from being on the go non stop plowing, being out in the cold all the time, the holiday madness, worrying about bills and to top that off his health is poor to begin with and his immune systom is shot. He has come down with "Shingles" Docs say hes got it real bad  and in the worst place his face, it is effecting his nerves, his eye, the whole left side of his face, he has lost a big patch of hair on his forhead right where the hair line starts and also most of the left eyebrow, he is in EXTREM pain and has been sick to stomach from meds, his eye is so swollen and awful looking the doc was and is very concernd for his vision so hes going to a eye specialist, there also gona monitor his hearing and watch for any paralisis as this condition can cause your face to be paralized and also great damage to eye or ear function, hes very swollen on that side of his face, neck/throat area so i have to make sure he can breath ok, his red patches/sores are so painful and EXTREMLY hot hes got ice packs on his face. POOR HUBBY!! I feel so bad theres not much i can do but make sure hes comfy and takes his meds and puts stuff on his face, we have been to the emergancy room at the hospital 2 times already then today to another doc and on friday he sees his regular doc. So just to let you all know i will try to be in as much as possible. They say this is really bad condition and can take along time to get better and he can be left with awful nerve damage that causes pain well after the sickness is better and scars from the sores. They are also worried about him getting a second bactirial inffection called Facial Celluitis so there watching for that.
Docs say theres a shot out now that you can get to help protect you from getting this but that its only for folks over 65, i was like WTF!! :censor::censor: Like his age aint old enough, if he would have had the shot he wouldnt have this crap its bad enough he has so many other health probs. Anyways will keep you all posted..:down:

Oh no! I'm really sorry to hear that. I had a friend who had shingles as a child, and the stories were really scary. Take care of yourselves and try to just take it day by day. A positive attitude always helps, even if it's only a little.
Keep the doctors' orders in mind, but try to motivate him to get some physical activity each day. Particularly, if he's laid up on the couch or something, make sure he moves around and changes positions every few days. When I broke my leg, I sat in the same chair, turned toward the same direction, most of the day every day, for two months. It totally screwed up my lower back and hips - two years later I'm still doing physical therapy to try and correct it. I'm sure he's in enough discomfort as it is - musculoskeletal pain is the last thing you need to add to the equation.
Best wishes,
~Joe

Sorry to hear that. I've heard stress is a big factor in setting them off - I've also heard they are contagious once someone gets them, so be careful you don't get 'em too.

I will pray for him.

Dang girl, you keep him looked after. We'll put you all in our prayers.

Good luck and hang in there. I remember my grandmother having that when I was young and it caused her a lot of trouble before she finally won.

Sorry to hear that,I hope he gets better soon!Take care!

Sorry to hear that. Hope both of you manage to work something out and he is more able to relax. A colleague of mine had it 5 times. And as she aged, the frequency went up and the suffering was more. Eventually, she retired from the job and for the past few years she hadn't any relapse.

Hope he gets better:)

That is definitely a shame. My younger sister had a very very light case of shingles when she was pretty young (she still is lol.) Best of luck as you pull through this tough time. My thoughts will be with you and your family, sickness is never fun.

Hi Tracey

I'm so sorry to hear about your hubby. I have had shingles on my face as well (last year). I had blisters under my eye and had to go the eye dr. and all that. I was lucky that it was in the lower quadrant that usually doesn't get into the eye. But...shingles suck. Occasionally I have a little facial neuralgia as a reminder. I didn't have it as bad as your husband does. I really hope he gets past all this.

Shingles are contagious only if you have not had chicken pox. If you get it, you will get chicken pox, not shingles. If you have had chicken pox, you cannot catch shingles. If you have had chicken pox, you always have the potential to develop shingles. Chicken pox/shingles are one of numerous skin afflictions in the Herpes family that follow nerve paths.

Thats right you can not catch this unless you have never had chicken pox nor the vac against it. Thanks tons everyone for the prayers and well wishes. I finaly have a min to let everyone know whats going on, between all the meds and me making sure hubby washes the sores with antibactireal soap and baking soda, i also make sure he keeps ice cold viniger/water soaked washcloth on his face where the swelling is it has helped tramendously!! The meds are working, tonight for the first time in a week he has finaly been able to crack open his eye and look at me, hes soooooooooooo worried bout the eyebrow/hair loss i keep telling him, me and Cassie are gona draw little hairs there with a eyebrow pencil.. LOL!! He looks like i beat the crap outa him with a baseball bat and then torched his skin in areas on his face. I think hes tierd of being in bed and not being out and about like he normaly is, i think he wants to be out playin in the snow. He says where the hairs were pertaining to his eyebrow and his hair line/top front and where his side burns are that it feels like a million needles poking him and the heat/pain is just awful, no new red spots have poped up which is a good thing. :hail::hail: Im just glad the meds are working. I would never wish this awful sickness upon anyone and for all of you that have gone thru this i FEEL FOR YOU BIG TIME. I know the docs state that once you get shingles you have the chance to have more outbreaks as you age or are under real bad stress.

PlantAKiss, HUGS TO YOU!!! He has spots on top his eye lid, corner of lid and under his eye lid as well as the eyebrow, forhead hair line and up into the hair, side burn, cheek, small one on chin, by his nose and i have looked and looked and thats it for now its only on the left side, his lympth nodes swelled on the side of his neck/face and all the way to just under his side burn. He has many health issues thats why we have such a concern for him right now he has breathing probs/emphazima-SP?, spots on his brain, degeneritive disc's/spine probs, arthritis/complete numbness of hands and fingers at times and no he dont have carpule tunnel as he already had that surgery in both hands. Also was diagnosed with the beginings of Parkinsons-SP? So its been a long haul for me and its a daily rigimen with him. I LOVE HIM DEARLY! Hes my heart and soul.. I have been carring for him and Cassie thru tragedy after tragedy, i think Cassie alone took the worst toll on all of us and to think i know hes just stressing all the time over her as she still has to worry bout the day thats surely to come we are just thankful to god thats shes with us today and is still going strong after all that shes been thru and that her knowing her brain tumor is there and will never go away. One of these days i will find the time to take care of myself as im the sole core strength in this family that keeps us going and keeps us together no matter what happens theres always hope, theres always tomarrow..

THANKS EVERYONE for everything and i will keep you all posted.

May you all have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!:D:hug:
