I was trimming some flower stalks and figured why not take a quickie cell phone pic of them in a vase

no, that is not really a concern with Heliamphora.... if you snip them too early they just send up a replacement.
Mainly I did it because I wanted to make sure one flower stalk doesn't have any chance of cross pollination.
