i just bought a vft and the traps are close to the soil. how long or when do they get the summer leaves?

The leaves get long petioles when it's hot. So they usually get summer leaves during the summer! That is why "summer leaves" are called "summer leaves".

Hehehehe mine have have summer leaves right now and its based on lighting conditions. If your plant gets bright light its more likely to produce the summer leaves.
