G. hispidula

Last year a G.violacea sent up a stalk and before it flowered - the plant died. Don't know why. Is there something I should or shoudn't be doing?

Hi Jim,

My G.violacea (as well as violacea x lobata, and hispidula) has been sending up flower stalks like mad and nothing's happened. Maybe you just had bad luck.

As far as I can tell, flowering doesn't set the plants back like it does sometimes with drosera. But after one or two flower stalks, I usually cut off the rest to give the plant a break.

Why do you ask? Do you have one about to flower?

Hey Ken, It's sending up a stalk. No buds yet.

Buds are appearing - so far a white with yellow thingy.
