Slowly drifting out to sea...
Ok so I am petting sitting this little goldfish, and today I somehow killed it

Maybe it drowned I dunno. So I feel really bad,so I went to the pet store to replace it,and I put it in the little fish bowl and then went out.I just got home and the darn thing is not in the bowl!I can't find it!It must of jumped out but I don't see how because I didn't fill the bowl up right to the top cause I didn't want it to jump out.Anyways I looked around for it around the bowl and I can't see it.So maybe my dog ate it

Anyways, this fish that died(his name is Odie)belongs to an 8 year old boy.Now I really don't want to hurt him,but should I tell him that his fish died while he was away or should I replace it and tell him,or should I replace it and not tell him?He was really sad when his other fish died(I didn't kill that one!)and he cried for days, and I don't want to put him through that again

So now I've got a dead Odie and a missing Odie the second.I'm a bad fish poopter

its not your fault, you didnt kill the first fish..the goldfish bowl did.
it would have died anyway, even if you hadnt been there.
the second fish also died because the bowl.
it jumped hoping to find a more suitable environment, hoping to escape the toxic polluted water it found itself in, all it found was the floor.
if they had a real aquarium, with a top, neither fish would have died.
its the goldfish bowl..they are killers.

Thanks Scottychaos-I am very against goldfish bowls, they're just too small, doesn't matter what kind of fish you have in there.I'm also against people keeping those poor Betta's in small cups and tiny containers

It's sad.Anyways,I'll tell the boy that Odie died, and then maybe I'll talk to his mom and try to convince her to get an actual tank. The problem is,people want fish but they don't have the room so the petstore convinces them that a small goldfish bowl will do just fine

Ya, I would tell the kid the truth also. But I would stress that it's because the fish did not have a proper home. And tell the parents too...but everyone already said all this! Good luck...you never know, it might spark an interest in the kid (or the parents) to try to raise a goldfish correctly (they'll probably give up though).

Yersh. The small area of open water from ag oldfish bowl isnt enough to allow for proper oxygen exchange, either- perhaps jumped out to avois suffocating?
