Darlingtonia dormancy

Anna

carnivorus plant collector
Hi All:

This is a question for all you northern CP growers in zone 5 and above. When do you notice your darlingtonia's breaking dormancy? Im kind of worried about mine because my sarrs are starting to grow but I havnt seen any growth yet on my cobra. I bought it last summer and it did great, this is its first dormancy so Im not sure what to do. Thanks.

Anything new and green emanating! And I am also waiting for signs of life!

Not to worry. My year old seedlings just woke up a couple weeks ago but the larger plants I acquired in August last year and January of this year are still dormant. As are my Sarracenia purpurea ssp venosa, S. psitticina and S. rubra ssp gulfensis "Ancestral form".

Each plant is on its own schedule and may not be completely synchronized yet with your location or may differ by species.
