Bad news

well i just read the icps listserver e-mail and from what i just read that one of many populations of Byblis gigantea in south africa has just been destroyed due to building of mansions on Table Mountain.
sorry to hear about this but, i thought other people would want to know.

It must be a site for Drosera (D. regia?) or Roridula, because Byblis gigantea is a native of W. Australia not S. Africa. It's a great shame to see any CP habitat being destroyed in this day and age to provide housing for the rich though.

Cheers
Vic

I believe it was actually 2 sites mentioned on the listserv. One was in Oz and was a B. gigantea site, it was turned into a housing development. The other was In S. Africa and was a Drosera site but I can not recall if it was any one species or multiple species.

I hope someone managed to save a few.
