    Need Help With Sarr Seeds

The seedlings that sprouted are very healthy and growing quite well. I'm not sure if the seeds are still firm. I will check tomorrow. Thanks for the reply.

    Need Help With Sarr Seeds

I have three pots of seeds which I stratified in the refrigerator in damp paper towels for about six weeks. I sowed the seeds on milled sphagnum and they are under CF lights in a terrarium. It has been four months since they were sown and I only have seedlings in one pot and not many of those...

    Finding peat

Where is the best place to buy larger amounts of peat to create a bog garden? So far I've only bought bags of peat from Lowe's, but that's no way to get enough peat for a bog at a reasonable cost. Do most landscape supply businesses sell peat (I'm in Georgia) that would be okay to use in a...

This is a stowaway Utric in a pot of D. filiformis var. tracyi. Can someone please tell me what it is?

The new Gallery! HOST YOUR CP PICTURES!

Maybe I'm just a moron, but I don't see anywhere at www.cpforums.org to sign up for an account. What am I missing?

    Horticultural Sand

Has anyone used Quikrete All Purpose Sand as part of their CP media mix? The Quikrete website says it is coarse sand and one of the listed uses is mixing with potting soil. Is there something better that may be available? I can't seem to find a place here that sells "horticultural" sand. Jason

    S. flava in the wild

Thanks for the information, Brooks. I will try to get back to Moultrie in September instead of October and go ahead and sow the seed. I agree with you on the pine tree. It may be better to do something about it now before it gets too big and the power company takes notice of it. I would hate to...

    S. flava in the wild

The Griffin - I would agree if the property was a "regular" piece of property, but I'm sure the utility company doesn't want pine trees growing under the power lines. They would take the pine out eventually, anyway, and possibly destroy the Sarrs at the same time. mfh - The site appeared to be...

    S. flava in the wild

I agree, herenorthere. I believe I will take out that pine next time I'm in the area. Maybe that will help the Sarrs growing in that spot.

    S. flava in the wild

Alexis - I like the idea of spreading the seed at the site and keeping some to grow in my collection. I haven't been close to the plants because I'll have to go over a fence, but I can make out some seed pods zooming in on the original pictures. Sowing and collecting seed will definitely be...

    S. flava in the wild

I have known about these S. flava for a couple of years, but I'm just now getting some decent pictures and wanted to share them. These plants are located in what I think is a utility easement along a road in Colquitt County, GA very near the city limits of Moultrie. These are the only CPs I've...

    Sarracenia containers

I have my Sarracenia pots sitting in "Rubbermaid" plastic storage containers to keep the water level right. After a few weeks of exposure to the sun the containers get very brittle and break very easily. What does everyone else use for this purpose? Any ideas what I might switch to so I don't...

    Drosea ID

Thanks for the replies, guys. I've got some flower stalks on a couple of these, so I'll check the flowers when they open. If they are D. capillaris I assume they will be okay over the winter in the pots with the S. psittacina. I keep all my dormant plants in the garage over the winter.
