What fun! You are getting closer and closer! I am really looking forward to having a copy.
You will truly be an all media nerd, er I mean, plant guru.
After all, I just saw your wonderful appearance in the soon-to-be-classic DVD "Snap Tentacles and Run-way Lights" !!!!!!
Hey Jeremiah, Thanks for posting all of these! I very much enjoyed meeting you at the conference! You are an awesome grower and a true asset to the CP community.
Nice Job!

Trichoderma is one of the many, many species of fungi that can form a symbiotic association with the roots of some plants, via mycorrhizae.
Mycorrhiza, pl. mycorrhizae: a symbiotic association between certain fungi and plant roots; characteristic of MOST vascular plants.
It has been said, for...
The common green form flowers for me pretty regularly on the large vines. I think the trick is to get a good vine going. Any time I have had a fat climing vine start, I have had flowers form. This is a male ampullaria about a week befor the first flowers opened.

One of the things you guys have to remember is that this was a very temporary display. I think it looks real good. When I look at this picture I can imagine the time that went into placing plants, packing moss around everything so no pots are showing, Making sure flowers, leaves and pitchers are...
That is very cool Oz.
I had a great snake experience this past weekend as well! My kids and I were looking for snakes in our back field. I have a few old boards that I laid out a few years ago and we consistently find garters when we turn them over. This weekend we turned the biggest board...

This is the run down I use for CP.
- What makes a plant carnivorous?
-The VFT: If you were a world explorer, where would you find a plant like this?
-North Am. Pitcher plants.
-Sundews and...
The Dark tube form of alata is not rare in cultivation. It is simply not as widely available as the typical alata forms. Phil Sheridan has a beautiful dark alata that he calls "Purple helmet" (keep it clean everyone) these sell for about $30. Check out the Meadowview Biological Station web site...
I grow Genlisea and Utricularia in these clear pots so I can better show kids the traps. I do get algae growth on the sides of the media because of the exposure to light. However, these pots stay a lot wetter then I would keep Neps. I say try it out! You can always carefully slip the root ball...
What kind of water are you using?
Also, I find that plants in dark pots will heat up when the sun hits them. If you can shade the pots, this would help keep the roots cool.
I find that Helia's grow very well for me if I can drop the evening temperatures by about 15 deg F.
So, make sure...
I grew up in the city (south side of Chicago) and now live in the country. I love raising my kids in the country. I wouldn't like to raise them in the same setting I grew up in. My wife is a born country girl. It has rubbed off on me.
