Ditto on what BigBella commented on 07-02-2014, 12:52 PM!

    Nepenthes ventricosa x hamata

I almost tossed it when it arrived but didn't see anymore for sale anywhere so waited it out and four new growth points appeared. I selected the lowest one and went with that. It's growing like crazy producing a pitcher per week. It was placed into a larger container this week which will...

    Nepenthes ventricosa x hamata

Since early Spring this has become the fastest growing plant I have had to date. Not sure why it took a year to recover from frozen above ground to the one in the pictures but I'm happy to see it. Not the best hamata hybrid but very nice and I don't see a lot of them around for sale. 02/12/2013...

    Nepenthes spathulata x hamata

I was looking at your neps on eBay and they sure look healthy. I hope you list more spathulata x hamata's so I can bid in after I get paid. I assume you have a webstore so I will take a look there too.

    Nepenthes spathulata x hamata

Thank you Whimgrinder, but should it have taken a year for a new bud to reach 4" across? Should I mix large perlite with the NZ sphag and water more often? Totally cool, what sort of environment are yours in and what part of the country? I think everything matters and am convinced that it's hard...

    Nepenthes spathulata x hamata

That explains it, I know I like mine. I also have a ventricosa x hamata that arrived frozen early last Spring and it's coming back nicely. Just purchased a burkei x hamata and intend to pick up more hamata hybrids since I can't seem to successfully keep the purebred hamata's alive. All of my...

    Nepenthes spathulata x hamata

Anyone seen the Nepenthes spathulata x hamata at auction on eBay? The foliage has an odd look to it color-wise, any thoughts. I'm not bidding but just wondered as my plant has nice green foliage like the pictures of others I have seen on the web.

    Camera Techniques

Didn't there used to be a photography section here? Anyway, I had been using a Fujifilm Finepix S2950 (14 mp) in combination with an adapter and macro lenses and had terrible results will blurry pictures so I finally replaced it with a Fujifilm Finepix HS25EXR (16 mp) and it made quite a...

    Spectabilis hybrids

A have a fairly nice Fujifilm S2950 camera that I added an adapter and a set of macro lenses to and still have problems. Someone told me that I needed an SLR digital to get crisp closeups so I decided to just use what I have. I can't see spending that much on a hobby camera. It probably wouldn't...

    Moss Species

Thanks, I'll check all of that out, hate having a plant with no name especially since she and I will be collecting moss from the wild this Spring. My usual searches like Kansas Moss or Kansas Plants turned up nothing and even though the Kansas plant sites include ferns they neglect to mention moss.

    Moss Species

I didn't get any responses to my inquiry on the "Miscellaneous Plants" about the species name for a moss I brought inside so my granddaughter can watch it green up. You guys seem to be pretty good putting names to non-nep species so hopefully someone can take a look on that forum?

    Identify This Moss

I live in Kansas City and this moss has been growing on my North side front porch awning for years. I pulled a piece off and placed into the green room as a teaching aid for my 6 year old granddaughter so she can see it green up. I would appreciate an identification. 02-22-2014 02-24-2014

    Decapitated villosa

vraev mentioned live LFS as a good medium and I was wondering what LFS stands for. I use New Zealand Sphagnum and it seems to work OK. I have just a few small seedlings and I use tweezers to pull the star moss out near the plants, kinda like mowing around a hedge. I wish I had a room I could use...

    Decapitated villosa

Just saw this. Would that be New Zealand Sphagnum? It appears to be OK and growing faster than before. It's about 1" across now.
