    Hambuger

Goodness gracious! Do not feed your VFTs hamburger! The trap will most likely turn black and rot away pre-maturely (they die and rot away eventually, tho'). Just feed your VFT little bugs and such Speaking of which, VFTs do not actually need very many bugs. From what I understand, 1 or 2 bugs...

    Should i cut it?

I think Scot's point is that it doesn't matter how long the stalk is (whether it be 4 inches or 14 inches) - the longer you wait to cut it, the more energy it takes away from the plant. So... it's best to cut it as soon as possible

    Interesting problem...

So... over the course of this past winter, the maintenance crew at my apartment complex powerwashed the brick outside. Normally, this is okay - however, because the crew didn't give us warning, I was not able to protect my VFTs very well. Thus, I have reason to believe that some (not all) of my...

    Augh! mealy bugs!

Are these anything like aphids? Could you just submerge the plant(s) under water for a day to drown the little critters?

    Vft paradisa

That's a task I'm willing to complete - it's already getting difficult to remember who is who! (None of them are currently tagged) PS - that was your 1000th post, by the way ;)

    Vft paradisa

Just do what I do and name them yourself! So far, I have: Snugglez (my very 1st VFT) Cuddlez Hugglez A Hugglez B Fugglez (Originally known as X-C and was torn apart for tissue culture) Fugglets (the individual plantlets from Fugglez) X-A X-B X-D Bugglez (he has aphids ) Bugglets (seedlings...

    Vft paradisa

No one's really allowed to say 'cause it's considered advertising for a different company than PFT, which makes sense.  A moderator said so and removed the link on the 1st page.

    Photo of a hibernacula

Thanks, Nick So, basically the plant covers itself with its leaves, right?

    Photo of a hibernacula

Could someone please post an image of this hibernacula thing that these sundews grow?  I have a very young sundew (of unknown species) about 1cm in diameter that I'm not sure whether it needs dormancy or not.  So, if I knew what a hibernacula looked like, I might be able to tell if my plant is...

    What kind is this sundew?

Hmm... thanks for the info Well, I guess I don't need to know what kind it is now, but how do I care for it? My primary concern is whether it should go dormant with my VFTs in a couple months or not...

    What kind is this sundew?

Hi all! I'm usually in the VFT forum, but I somehow got this plant while I was planting my VFT seeds - it just popped up one day. I do not own any sundews (at least, not 'til now), so I have no idea where or how I got this: other views: Do you guys know what kind of sundew it is? I plan...

    Seedlings + dormancy

I guess I'll just leave them outside with the rest of my VFTs - thanks!

    Trapped!

Don't be surprised if the trap rots attempting to digest that thing.  Over the course of this past summer, all 9 of my VFTs have caught at least 1 daddy longlegs and each and every one ended up a black rotten wad at the end of the leaf. I never figured it out EDIT: Some were brand new traps, too!

    Seedlings + dormancy

Do seedling VFTs that were just planted this summer still need dormancy?
