Im with steve on this one. You need to find somthing to hold the weight. I would consider drilling a hole on both sides of the crack so it cant spread. Then put rigid plastic on with your silicone to steal it.

I just went though this. Another member on a different site identified the mystery plant as fern gameophyte. Your photo is hard to tell but you could compare an online image of the fern with what you see in your pot.

Dont beat yourself up. We are all here to learn from eachother. Actually spending time on forums or researching to better myself and my setup is as rewarding for me as keeping my plants alive. There are many bumps along the way but places like these forums make things far easier.

How big of a terrarium are you planning? I have often thought of this. I would suggest leaving out temperate species so you dont have to worry about dormancy. Do you have any progress photos??

I usually scrape the slimy crap off with a spoon. A top dressing of live sphagnum will help any cp. It provides antifungal properties and keeps plants humid. Live spgagnum is also a great indicator for moisture and light conditions. And it looks great too.
