Depends what you want. I find not feeding them makes for a colorful plant with a tight rosette.
I use beta fish food ground into a powder for feeding. It will produce larger plants although they may be greener instead of showing off there true colors.
A well fed ping may even produce more...
I’m trying a petri dish with a cotton pad ( the kind the girls wash their makeup off with). Soaked with ro water and a dusting of root shield. So far I have some nep and P. cyclosecta germinating. I just planted some more Ping seed I got in the mail today.

If your incoming power has a dip or flickers off and on real quick. The MH lamp will not relight untill a certain time lapses. It has something to do with the way it starts runs. They all do it. Well I'm not sure how the digital ballasts work but thats how the older ones are.

It’s never really concerned me. It never gets wet or even damp. The ballast is not in the GH. Now the negative ion generator in the air filter on the other hand will give you a surprise on occasion.:)
The GH is 6x6x7"hi.
150$ at Canadian tire it works great indoors, out it may be a little week in the wind.
I would think a 400w would do for neps. Next step is a 1000w It may be a little over kill. Especially on the pocket book to pay the power bill.
