I did manage to visit a bog (Namekagon Fen State Natural Area, WI), although it was getting late in the day by the time I got there, so I wasn't there for too long. Here's some more pics:
this one didn't have much venation, but an interesting red band across the inner part
lastly...
Here are some from WI, not sure how useful they are. I was actually semi-planning on hiking a bog here in WI next weekend that has 1000's of purps in it. If I do, I'll definitely get some good hood venation shots.

Found this caterpillar munching on my Sarracenia yesterday evening. So I took a few pics to try and identify it, then I noticed the pictures were turning out pretty nice - it was dusk and the flash was going off, so I snapped a few more while I was out there. Oh, and I never got a 100%...
no, one is from Brooks Garcia, the other from Wes Buckner
generally, i think the variation is probably equal, however, with o-p there's always the chance of having multiple fathers in one seed pod.

the pod parent is an alata x flava hybrid:
open-pollinated, so no idea what the dad is. i have thought the dad probably was at least partially rubra, because of the shape, and the pitchers are a little smaller. unfortunately, i don't keep good records, but I really don't think I had a...
that's a tough call. i would think the plants would start entering dormancy before the pods ripened. that being said, i don't think it's going to hurt the plants much to leave them on and see what happens. at the worst, i think, it might affect next year's flowers, but that's just a guess...
let me check my notes....
oreophila, godzuki, minor x ?, fireworks, red sumatra, oreophila x purpurea, leuco x flava rugelli, (orephila x flava) x leucophylla, lady bug, and cobra nest
wow, didn't remember doing that many with them!
I'm assuming you mean this one?:
It's an open-pollinated alata x flava. Yes I still have it, as well as a sibling that looks nearly identical, and a few other siblings that are a little different, but with still lots of red. They don't look as great this year for some reason, perhaps...
I see similar things occasionally. It seems every year I get at least a couple flowers that end up looking odd in way or another. I don't think it's genetic, as other flowers on the same plant will be normal. I think it's either just some malfunction on the cellular level, or perhaps...
