Some updated pics of my cephalotus!

High humidity is not needed. They are at about 40-60% humidity. I find it best if they are not in a terrarium type environment. They need good air circulation. Peter.

Some updated pics of my cephalotus!

The three are grown in an unheated greenhouse. About 60% shade. I have potted them in deep 6 inch pots. I don't keep them sitting in water. I water about once a week overhead. Temps are about 38 degrees to about 85. All 3 of these came back from the brink of death when i use to grow them...

    Automatic Misting

I've been very happy with a misting system from www.herpmist.com. If you don't want to mess with all the above DIY stuff, a complete system is the way to go! Peter.

    Some Ping Pics

Jimscott, here is the link to more info on P. ibarrae: http://www.pinguicula.org/pages/plantes/pinguicula_ibarrae.htm Apparently it is closely allied to P. agnata. The flowers are very similar but the leaves and plant seem very different to me. Peter.

New Family member :D my baby ceph

My 2 cents, i tried growing 3 different clones indoors under lights in a terrarium. All 3 grew great for a few months, then declined rapidly to the point of total die back. I put them outside in a covered area and they have all recovered from the roots. I suspect that it was the high humidity...

Do your t-5 bulbs get hot?

Thanks all. Good to know that it is normal for these bulbs to run hot. Peter.

Do your t-5 bulbs get hot?

I have a 4 tube 4 foot fixture and notice the t-5 fluorescent bulbs get quite hot. Almost too hot to touch. They are much hotter than my t-8 bulbs. Is this normal? I wonder if there is something wrong with the fixture? Does anyone else use t-5's and notice the bulbs being hot? Thanks! Peter.

    Cool white energy costs

Here's the math: 80 watts x 14 hours =1120 watts per day or 1.12 kilo watts per day. On you bill, you have a charge per kilowatt. Multiply that by # of kilowatts and you get your cost per day! Peter.
