Justlikeapill, how do you know for sure that the vft's at walmart are Bigmouth or Yellow? They aren't, and to just "assume" they are will just further confuse the already jumbled confusion on a lot of these plants and false clones are going around and its really a shame. I grow what you probably...
According to my best knowledge, I only know of one form of yellow sold by triffid park nursery. I grow this plant and it is nothing real special, just lighter in color. Others maybe look to be yellow, but keep in mind they are still typicals nothing more unless they are bought from a reliable...
It's just a typical supermarket vft under some stress after being grown in the less than ideal conditions. For it to be a cup trap vft, all of them has to be cupped shape. I currently grow both tamlins form and the regular cup form and all of them never made true regular traps, although the...
I think Lord Humungus had the same problem as you. It seemed to be a red cloned vft too, so maybe it is some type of t/c mutation that happens every once in a while?
With so many different red dragon clones going around these days, there are sure to be some weaker strains and some very strong ones as well. I have several from different sources and some grow ok, while others make one inch traps on a regular basis.
I would say that most of the Triffid Park VFT's are nothing more typicals given a special name, Paradisia included in that bunch. Although there are a few of them that are worthy of a name, most don't really deserve it.
Paradisia I've noticed have been a ok growing plant, growing rossetted style...
For me, the more insects the better. I do not believe you can overfeed a vft. In fact, I am always on the constant search for some more insects to feed my vft. Flys are always the easiest and most caught, followed by various wasps, beetles, moths here and there, and ants and spiders that are...
I tried putting a layer of pebbles on some of them last season, but it didn't seem to affect the plants growth too much. I'll definitely give it a shot again this year.
I've come up with some interesting theories of Vft growth and am currently in the process of writing a short paper on my...
They all look like they need a good repotting as well. I would definitely repot, remove all dead/infected leaves and give the plant a good soak in a fungicide solution for a few minutes. But it definitely seems like there is some type of root rot going on due to overly humid damp conditions.
A lot of new growers tend to name vft's names, including me when I first grew vft's. How do you know the plants bought at walmart are bigmouth? Trap size doesn't really matter. About 90% of all my typicals will make 1" traps or bigger easily, so does this qualify it as a bigmouth... no. Please...

It's not that big of a deal, it just seems like one or two healthy plants always die coming out of dormacy for no reason, guess I'll try the fungicide method more often than. But, I am against fridge methods of dormacy as they have never worked for me and with the size of my collection it...
