    Bye bye my hamata friend...

I believe some are getting TOO worked up over that comment. I never said it was on this forum, did I! But there was another forum where someone did that when a member asked a question about how to grow a specific plant. I will say this, I did in the past ask and got the following: I have been...

    Bye bye my hamata friend...

I live at 7000ft elevation and in the high desert, and thou I can provide daytime temps of 70 to 80 and during the summer there are unfortunately days that the temps get into the 90’s. I’m only able to support my plants in large tents where I can maintain the proper RH of 60 to 90%. I use...

    Bye bye my hamata friend...

Please don't mis-understand, I wasn't trying to be rude or nasty, but I was just telling the truth. It's like this in a lot of group hobbies like this, which seems to bring this out in some people. I don't consider myself a newbie, but it doesn't help inspire new-comers who are truly interested...

    Bye bye my hamata friend...

It would be nice if there were a definitive guide to successfully raising hamata's ;) I have asked other growers that appear to be growing them, but I either get no response, or, research it yourself, or "ask me after you have been growing these plants for 20 years :)

    Bye bye my hamata friend...

Don't feel bad, I have lost three the same way. I don't understand how I can keep other Highland varieties without any problems, but when it comes to N. hamates’.. I have a very costly brown thumb. I have tried different methods to cool them at night, but without an airconditioned control...

    hamata help!

I tried that with other plants and we have mystery guests the come in and eat them. We live in an area where anything green and looks edible, will be torn up and eaten... They even eat the prickly pears,. paddles and all! We believe the eaters of the plants are squirrels, rabbits, mice, wood...

    hamata help!

I do have windows, but the logistics in moving the air is a problem. The windows are large and slide sideways and not up. What media are the successful growers using?

    hamata help!

I've tried to get the temp down at night, I even invented a mini swamp cooler, but I can only get it down about 10 degrees lower than ambient. I'm just not setup for refrigeration. So it is the lack of really cool night time temps that is the problem?!

    hamata help!

Hey members I've have been having a devil of a time getting N. hamatas to thrive. I have over 200 Nepenthes species and hybrids, including about 6 hamata hybrids all of which are growing like mad!, but for some reason, I'm failing when it comes to growing N. hamatas species. I believe I'm...
