Ooo...thanks for the info. I hate wasps. I haven't seen any more mealy bugs on it, so I think it was probably just that one. I'm still watching for em though. I might pick up some of that spray just in case, it sounds like good stuff to have around.
Thanks for all the info! It gives me a good idea of what's going on. I have a few good Southeast and South facing windows, and your temps aren't too much different than mine. Maybe I can make my own magic window. Probably not...I'm sure there's some sort of universal limit on how many magic...
I do have a lot of humidiy, but this plant is going to be inside. It's my understanding that modern a/c and heaters remove a lot of humidity from the air. It's currently in a shady spot by my leaky kitchen sink, so the local humidity is probably pretty high, but I am just assuming. Shreveport...
Wow...they look great. You are able to grow a bical and hamata on your windowsill?! If you don't mind, what are your temps like? Do you do anything for humidity? Do you have any supplimental cooling or heating?
I grow all my neps in windows, and this is very encouraging. I'm really excited...
When you say "that", you're talking about mounting it, correct?
Thanks for the advice.
Another question:
What's a good orchid fertilizer? Sorry, I'm pretty ignorant of fertilizers.
I'm still a newbie to pings, but I planted mine in 50/50 peat/perlite mix, and they are doing fine.
You might want to be careful of beach sand. I've always heard that salt in beach sand and wood is bad for CPs. I think you can wash it really good to get rid of the salt...but I have no idea...
Somehow that doesn't surprise me. I typically go about things in a strange manner. I guess I like to have unique and unusual plants.
Thank you for the advice. I used alcohol for the infected area, and I've done a lot of looking around the plant, and can't find anything obvious...
I got my very first orchid today. It's a Haraella retrocalla. It's very tiny and cute. It even had a little flower on it. Does anyone have any tips for caring for orchids?
Also, I noticed that it had a mealy bug on it when I was unpacking it. I killed the mealy bug, but I know I need to...
I'm glad it will work. Since we were grinding a stump down, it's not just pine bark, it's all the wood...will that make a difference?
Nepenthes gracilis - How long do you think I should let it age?
Thanks for the advice!!
