    Cut to root?

I think the whitefly managed to overwhelm my poor Drosera. It's not pretty anymore. I don't know where they come from, they sneak up on you, then the next thing you know there's a million of the little critters. Would it survive having all it's 'branches' chopped off? It's realy too bald to...

    Cut to root?

Hi! I have one of these: It's had a bad year (whitefly of all things), and is quite large & mostly dead now. It is sprouting new little leaves of hope. If I chop it right down to root, will it grow nice again this spring? I hope so, it's one of my most loved plants.

I will do. It seems to be quite slow growing, but I'm sure it'll pick up as it gets some sun on those leaves.

    Weed id

Hi all! I noticed a few weeks ago that I've got a weed growing in with my VFT. It's got big enough to photo now, and I think it's some kind of Drosera. It doesn't look like any kind that I'm growing though. Maybe it's a dormant seed from when the VFT was planted? Anyway, I'm going to grow it and...

    U. sandersonii

A couple of weeks back, there was a show on TV about the RHS show. Part of the show followed one young chap who went to show his CPs. He had this greenhouse full of them, and I've never lived in a *house* that big. I could have spent hours in there wandering along his trays of water. His...

    U. sandersonii

If I ever see any more on sale anywhere, I'll buy them. They are wonderfull little plants, and I like how easy they are to care for. I've just gone through my first winter with my plants, and it was quite scary. I guess that bit's all about confidence. My only non-CPs are tomato and chillie...

    U. sandersonii

Wow, thank you! I guess that explains why I've heard it called a bladder wort then. I tried to do a little research on the plant, but there doesn't seem to be many places that give detailed info on it like there are for other plants in my small collection. It's good to know it's not just a...

    U. sandersonii

Hi! I was wandering through a garden centre a few weeks back. I wandered over to the tray (always dry) that they keep their VFTs in (always dry and dying), and they had a specimin that I've never seen before. A U. Sandersonii! Of course I bought it, and it's been flowering non-stop. It's a great...

    Growing season?

I've found somewhere for the poor thing that will provide more light. Winter is so full of problems: I've just had to rescue my VFT from a mouldy death. Makes you wonder how they survive in the wild.

    Growing season?

OK, thanks. I have moved it to a north facing window recently to ensure it gets as much light as possible. It's now 3pm, and light is fading fast. Maybe it could move into the viv. with the corn snake? Thanks for the answer. Stupid winter.

    Growing season?

Hi! This is a closeup of my sundew. Over the last month or two, it's been growing tall, and hasn't had any dew. You can see in the background of the photo, there's another upward growth, but thinner. The new leaves at the top of the stalks don't have any hairs on them like the rest. I'm not...

    Who am I?

Woah, really? I was given the impresion it was bred in captivity in the UK. But thanks. We've got her in a 50x30cm (aprox) tub thing that's meant for herps. She's got water and a nice half-log thing to hide under. And kitchen roll. I'll keep an eye out for parasites. Can you explain more about...

    Who am I?

Just in case anyone needs to know in future: She turned out to be a Chinese twin-spot (Elaphe bimaculata). We're very happy with her, even if she does bite a lot.
