Well he is hidding agin, so I have not let him out. I placed several containers filled with bed a beast in the greenhouse so he will have some extra places to hide. I have also purchased some live crikets and let them loose in the greenhouse. All of the water containers have board in them so he...
He is not a pet. I just placed him in the mix I described because he looked exahusted from trying to get out of the bucket. He has been staying in pots in my green house. I will buy some crickets when I get back home and let them loose in the greenhouse. I have closed the greenhouse door for the...
I have a Southern Lepord frog that has taken up residence in my small greenhouse. I just went out to check the greenhouse and I found him trying to get out of a bucket. He is alive but he looks a lot thinner than he has in the past. He was not in any hurry to get away from me either. I placed...
I just found a bud on one of my plants.
This will be the first time I have had an orchid bloom. I have always purchased them in bloom
and I just started collecting them last year. Here is a photo of the same plant last year in bloom.
This is another Paph that I just purchased.

For the record:
1. Eastern Box Turtles are not on the Georgia Protected Species list.
2. I do not plan on keeping them as a "pet". I plan on keeping them for their first year and then aclimating them to the wild. There are too many of thier natural preditors in my area to give me any...
While mowing the yard my husband found 2, at last count, baby turtles. I have identified them as Eastern Box Turtles. From the front of their shells to the back they are a little less than 1 1/2 inches in size. Can anyone give me some advice on taking care of them. If they are hard to care for...
I am inclined to belive in Josh's theory of caddis fly larvae or something similar. I am not sure of the range of the caddis fly. I do live near large stream/swamp so if they are native to the area they could be the culprit. The area is too enclosed, two fences and very shaded above the pond for...
I think that if it had been a person they would have taken plants out of the bog next to the pond as most people I have shown the area to were more intrested in the venus fly traps in the bog. I did not see any turions at the bottom of the pond and the weather has not realy changed that much, I...
I have an outside 30 gallon pond that looked similar to this
about 3 weeks ago. now there is not even the water mint left only a few floating pine needles and 2 or 3 snippets of plants less than 1/2 inch long. The only living creatures in it are a large apple snail, about 2 inches in dia, and...
It depends on how the tree takes to having its roots trimed. I have found the key to growing my bonsai is to use a non-tradional pot. I use a 8-inch clay pot to grow my maple tree, it is about 5 years old and I grow it outside without any protection. Keep in mind that the translation of bonsai...
Pearlite is lighter but it also floats to the surface and makes a mess in an outdoor bog . Instead of moving it eackh season you may want to consider making a portable cold frame to place over it in the winter to give it added protection.
Place it on a pot of peatmoss and keep it wet and in the same amount of sunlight as you found it. I grow mine in my outside bog, it does not like to dry out. Keep it as thick as possible to help control the mostiure loss.
