Welcome back! This is actually my first time replying to a thread in over 6 years so I'm glad I'm not the only one coming back.
I too have lost a lot of plants over the years, including my bog garden and some indoor plants.
I have a few Neps that survived from my previous collection, but I've...
I'll try to get some pics soon. I just spent a few hours checking the rhizomes and they all seem fine (I cut into a few of them to check the interiors.)
However, I discovered that the bog itself slopes into the back corner where the dying Sarrs are located. This slope pulls water away from the...
So lately I've noticed something disturbing in my bog. After a strong start to the growing season, many of my plants seem to be suffering from untimely demises.
This is my second year with the bod garden so I'm not sure what's wrong as the situation hasn't changed since last year with the...
Sorry 'bout the delay, I've actually been dormant on TF for 15 months, but I'm back and willing to talk CPs now that things have settled down a little in my life.
So I realized today that I haven't been on TF in a while, so I wanted to take few minutes to post a quick update about what I've been doing for the last 15 months, it's been quite busy.
Around the time of my last post I had just graduated with my degree in Communications and was looking for a...
Well, I finally got up the guts to try a Bog Garden this winter, it's nothing big but my sarrs needed a colder winter than the last few, and definitely got one this year. I got it all mulched and protected, but there is a little voice inside me saying that I'm doomed. I'm just going to ignore...
Welcome to Utah, the challenge of growing CPs in a dry climate is terrifying but fun, I wish you luck.
Sorry I don't have any pings that are happy right now or I would gladly give you some. My heli is still too small for divisions but I'll keep you in mind when it's big enough.
I have taught a CP class to adults and I can only tell you a little as far as how I would teach kids. I used 'The Savage Garden" as a basis for my class, but for kids I would probably go to the juvenile section of the library and look at books like 'hungry plants, etc.' there are tons of them...
When I was 12 I had a planted terrarium with potting soil, a VFT, D. aldelae, and a Nep all sharing the soil - it didn't last long.

I've had great experiences with purpurea, flava, rubra, and minor. Any hybrid or species that catches your eye, I recommend checking out cpphotofinder to see what they all look like, in Dover you should be able to grow them year round with minimal winter protection.
