A group of seven of us are going on a ten-day botanical foray to Oaxaca in January. Can anyone suggest any locations where we migth observe pinguiculas growing in their native habitat? Suggesetions for viewing other interesting flora would also be appreciated. Many thanks, John

Regarding the use of the abbreviation aff.

My two cents... Since aff. does not appear in the list of the ICBNs list of accepted abbreviations (http://www.bgbm.fu-berlin.de/iapt/nomenclature/code/SaintLouis/0117SubjIndx.htm), it has no place being included in a botanical name. Perhaps I should play devil's advocate and ask what people...

Finch, Along with making some recommendations, I’d like to address your comment “Not as a botanical garden curiosity of a formally wild plant, but in its natural habitat so it can continue its evolution in the habitat and wild where it belongs.” Keeping extinct or nearly extinct plants as...

    Regarding "bad transactions" (trades, etc)

OK, perhaps I'm dense and don't understand, but PAK - you are in the process of intervening in two bad transactions for me, yet you say you haven't heard from anyone. Please explain...am I missing something? Thanks

    Copyrighted cultivars?

Homer, I'm not sure if you are aware that plants can't be trademarked, only names can be. An excellent example is Heritage River Birch - Betula nigra 'Cully', which has a trademarked name of Heritage attached to it. See this excellent article by Tony Avent of Plant Delights Nursery...

    Question about missing post

Jeeze, I really never imagined I would have been "opening a can 'o worms" by trying to get the auction plants that I had paid for a LONG time ago. PAK and Ozzy, thanks for you interventions in this regard. Laura, that is VERY kind of you to offer to provide plants to replace the ones I was high...

    Maidenhair fern

Here in zone 5, we have had excellent success growing Adiantum aleuticum (Aleutian maidenhair). It is very robust and not receiving any special care.
