i ordered two recently and got three!
they're posted loose rooted in sphagnum
(what roots??? they're grown from cuttings, apparently usually don't have roots but a decent rhizome)

we don't get black widows in australia but the next best thing:
the redback spider!
they look just like black widows. used to keep a few... lots of fun.
I now have two scorpions and a huntsman spider (featured in arachnophobia - the hybrid types, not the queen)

i think winter should be cold enough to induce dormancy in the plants.
avoid waterlogging them though.
i think subzero temps are bad for them too. keep thim indoors if you get frost.
i'd love to have a true red vft.
the only vfts i can find here are "Fang". and they rapidly lose any red they have even in full sun.
the only red i can get are by mail order and i dont have a credit card yet! lol

heehee... for drosera: goto SW Western Aus.
i get to see seasonal tuberous drosera every year in a reserve 2 mins wlk from home .
maybe i'll talk to ur friend when i have a better success rate with cps
