Air circulations are important? Care to elaborate on that? For example, my VFT spends its time on my window-sill, right next to a big window that is open all year round, and the curtains (drapes) are pretty much closed all the time too.
It wouldn't come out of the pot! I gave the pot a good squeeze, and when it finally did, I held it by the plant so as not to damage the roots, and this made a lot of traps close. There was generally a lot of crushing going on.
Thanks Bill. But how exactly does the cup help?
My VFT certainly...
My VFT is growing lots of new traps and has far outgrown the little pot it came in. The traps are so packed together that they are eating each other and then rotting, but it just keeps growing. And now that it's summer, it's getting the red back on the traps.
I've bought some special compost...
Despite a very cold winter, the conditions on my window-sill have not changed much (maybe slightly colder). All that happened to my VFT was it lost its red colour on the traps, and they stopped growing up, and just grew along the ground. It more than doubled its number of traps before winter...
Thanks guys. Since I posted that my VFT is still at it, it's grown even more mini traps clumping together here there and everywhere, I'll try and get some pictures up sometime.
I don't know whether I should be happy about this... the innocent VFT I bought a few months ago has gone crazy. It's more than doubled the number of flytraps it had when I bought it, every day I see a new baby trap, there are so many that they are growing inside each other. Some of the new ones...
I use de-ionised water designed for car batteries (about 59p from Wilko's ) but I wish it would rain more in the UK, I ran out recently and my poor VFT went for a few days without water.
You can also look in a garden centre, they usually have them (I live in the UK). I got mine in a garden centre for about £3, and without shipping to pay that's a lot cheaper.
