Thanks for the reply. Yes we do have a Petco, but they do not carry cork bark. I bought a piece of drift wood last night and mounted my orchid on that. I put quite a bit of LFS between the wood and the orchid and I plan on watering it every day for at least the first several weeks. I know...
I have some orchids I want to mount. My problem is I cannot find a local supply of cork bark. I know I can get it online but I was wanting to get some quickly and be able to pick my own piece (but I wouldn't mind some input on some of the online suppliers). What are others using to mount...
Does anyone know if halogen lights provide enough of the light spectrum to be used for artificial lighting? I saw somewhere that they had a lot of energy in the red light part of the spectrum, but what about the rest? Has anyone used them?

Earwigs are not bad for plants. If I remember correctly, they like damp environments and they feed off of decaying matter. We have bunches of them here, they are like pill bugs, interesting and harmless in every aspect that I can think of.

I have a 5 button optical mouse at work. They are nice. The one I have has pads on the bottom that get dirty so it can't go entirly without cleaning.

I'll add my $0.02 worth. You may want to check to see if the old mouse was dirty. When/If you do check, it most likely will not be the ball, most people make the mistake of cleaning the ball and then wonder why it still does not work. The rollers inside the mouse are what needs cleaned. They...
Yes you can get humidifiers for your house. We have one that we have to use in the winter or else you get shocked every time you touch anything metal from all the static electricity build up. We have very dry winters, we also have very humid sumers so it only runs in the winter. I bought a small...
I use this method and it works very well for me, plus being in a tank helps increase the humidity.
Yes the water will stagnate. You should change it every so often or it will possibly start growing algae (sp?) and harbor a lot of bugs and generally just looks gross.

I let my Drosera, Sarracenia, Dionaea, Ping, stand in constant water. I let my Cephalotus (which I have had for a very short time, so I'm definitely not a good source of expertise) and Darlingtonia trays dry out between waterings.
I think you will get a slightly different answer from just...
Tristan,
Did you buy the seeds or did they come from a mature plant of yours? Do you have any hints or tips on getting them to germinate? My Darlingtonia is sending up three flower stalks and I would really like to retrieve the seeds and get them to germinate.

To answer your question about the lights, $150 should get you a LOT of fluorescents. I have five 4 foot fixtures (two bulbs per fixture), each was bought for less than $8 each. You should be able to buy inexpensive indoor shop lights at most any hardware store or even Wal Mart. I can't remember...
I received my first Cephalotus yesterday. Man that thing is tiny. Anyway, I've read the Cephalotus chapter in The Savage Garden, I was just wondering if people who successfully grow them have any other hints, tricks, tips for me.
Do they do well in a high humidity terrarium?
Thanks.

Reading the posts here, I think the seller gets the idea (although I doubt they care). So, not wanting to be left out in doing my part to help, I E-mailed the buyer. See below.

This ebay sell has caught the attention of some of my fellow carnivorous plant enthusiasts. I would...
No real order but:
I'm with Flint. Metallica (all of them)
Most Megadeth songs. High Speed Dirt is especially nice. Nothing beats throwing open the door to an airplane at 13,900 feet and saying See Ya!
Down with the Sickness - Disturbed
Get a Job - Offspring
Bawittaba (sp?) - Kid Rock
Nookie -...
