I have multiple Brown Turkey figs outside in the garden. I believe they need full sun to thrive. Even in our mild Florida winter they lose all of their leaves and go dormant and start to regrow around March. Mine naturally branch and I trim them to keep the plants about 8 feet tall.
Actually, I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade. Howerver two of the deaths everyone keeps harping about were a mother and calf during birth (I imaging that happens in the wild - no human interaction needed). Actually the lifespan of whales is not definately known in the wild and if you...
And with the 4 deaths in the past 4 months at Sea World.....
Not directed at you personally or an attempt to cause a big controversy, but freeing Kieko didn't turn out too well, and why do most people ignore the fact that animals in the wild also die. I imagine many more than 4 whales died in...
Hello everybody,
I received my small seed lot import permit earlier this summer. While I checked off Orlando (one of the options - and a 40 minute round trip), it came back with the point of entry as Miami (approximately a 7 hour round trip). My questions:
1) Is it correct to assume that it is...
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opens tomorrow in Orlando. Islands of Adventure opens at 9. Universal is opening the parking garages at 5:30 A.M., and will be letting people into that part of the park at 10:30. The local news is showing crowds of people already standing outside of Universal...
The vegetable gardening season is over here for the spring/summer. We can plant more things about September. The only thing that can survive our summer of ungodly heat, humidity, and rain is okra, cherry tomatoes, and sweet potatoes. I'm thinking of trying bush watermelon and cucumbers this...
I have gotten my grubby hands on seeds of D. trinervia, D. hilaris, D. cistiflora, and D. pauciflora. While I can find information on how to cultivate them, and have grown some of them in the past, I can't find ifo on when to actually plant the seed/does it need a hot-dry stratification...
I tried (for the 3rd time) yesterday to apply for a small seed lot import permit on line. I submitted my information and received a screen that said something about checking my email for a reply with a link to activate my account. Like the previous attempts, I received no...
Actually, if you want to get technical this is the first death that can be attributed to this particular whale. The 1st it was involved with 2 other whales that dragged a trainer underwater in Canada in the early 1990's. The 2nd happened at Seaworld Orlando in 1999. A man with alcohol and...
I decided to go yesterday to see what they did to the whale show since they restarted it. Same show minus the trainers in the water for now. They also did a video tribute to the trainer who was killed. On my way in to the parking lot I did drive by the PETA fanatics who were picketing and...
Just an FYI
1) Gatorland is opening a new attraction called "A mile of monsters".
2) Sea World's Shark Encounter - as well as the now defunct water ski show was used in the very very bad movie Jaws 3D
3) It's been cold/windy/rainy here for days - don't count on nice sunny warm weather while you...
Got some freaky sleet/snow/rain mixture yesterday. The low last night was 26 - tonight it is supposed to be 24. I'm sorry, but I thought the numbers below 50 on the thermometer were just there for decoration. If this keeps up much longer I might as well be living in Montana.
Just to clarify something. The Davidson College Herp. Dept. has been working with the National Park Service and studying the "python problem" in the Everglades for awhile. They have concluded that the original pythons came from released animals, and have since divided into several distinct...
